As of October 9, 2026, the ATF says it won't enforce the Form 4, the registration or the tax stamp on suppressors, short-barreled rifles and short-barreled shotguns. If you put off buying a can because of the paperwork, now's the time to come see us.

Congress took the $200 tax off these in the One Big Beautiful Bill. A federal court in Texas then ruled the registration couldn't stand on its own (Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF), and the Justice Department chose not to appeal. On October 9 the ATF put it in writing and applied it to everybody, not just the folks in the lawsuit.

Yes, for anyone who can legally buy a gun in Maryland or West Virginia. You still fill out a 4473 and pass a background check, same as any other firearm. Your specific situation is a conversation, not a webpage. Call or come in and we'll go through it.
Not for a suppressor, SBR, short-barreled shotgun or AOW. Under the ATF's October 9, 2026 guidance, the ATF won't enforce the approval, registration or tax stamp on those. Machine guns are a different story. The full NFA process and the $200 tax still apply there.
Federally, they're covered by the same guidance. But state law still applies, and Maryland has its own rules on them. And if you take one across state lines, you still need an approved ATF Form 20 first. Talk to us before you buy or build one.
